Sacrament explores two seemingly disparate subsects, the church and party culture. I
examine the rituals, rites, and euphoric moments that make up each. I lay out pieces of
humanity and the search for something higher than self, and let the viewer determine what the
morally charged subject means to them.
In both contexts participants find community and elation through experiencing something
in a room of like minded people. Whether we sing in a chapel or a frat bunker, and whether we
converse at a bar or a bible study, there is an inherent joy in communing. Yet there is often
condemnation for each way of life, and even sometimes overlap in engagement. We are pushed
to decide who we want to be and what to offer our devotion to. What we choose subjects us to a
larger conversation of morality. This series asks what we choose to venerate, and what it says
about us as humans.
Get down on your knees
And pray
If I fall, if I die
Know I've lived to the fullest
The body of Christ broken for you
The blood of Christ shed for you
Our Savior, Michael Jordan
Don not be afraid.
